Chili is full of ranches and raised ranches on bigger lots off Chili Ave, Paul Rd and Buffalo Rd, most built between the 1970s and 90s. A lot of these kitchens still have their original layout: closed-off galley setups, a single run of cabinets, and a soffit eating up cabinet height. Some sit near Black Creek where basement moisture is a factor. We work on the layout, the cabinets, the counters and everything around them, without wrecking your weekend or your budget.

Houses built in Chili in this era mostly went up with basic builder-grade cabinets, laminate counters, and enough square footage that owners never bothered opening up the kitchen. Lots off Union St and Paul Rd tend to be bigger, so staging materials and a dumpster in the driveway is usually easy, unlike tighter city lots.
Homes near Black Creek on lower ground can have damp basements, which matters if you’re planning a kitchen extension down into that space.
A good number of these ranches still have original two-prong or aluminum wiring, so we check the panel early if lighting or outlet counts are changing.

Chili questions

Can you open up the wall between my kitchen and living room in a raised ranch?

Usually, but a lot of Chili raised ranches have that wall carrying load from the floor above. We check the framing first, and if it’s load-bearing we can still open it up with a beam, we just price that in up front so there’s no surprise.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in Chili?

If you’re moving walls, adding circuits, or changing plumbing locations, yes, through the Town of Chili building department. A straight cabinet and counter swap with no layout change usually doesn’t need one, but we’ll tell you which situation you’re in before we start.
