Trim and built-ins for Victor homes, done right

From new subdivisions off Rt 96 to older village homes, we handle trim, doors, stairs and built-ins for Victor houses.

Victor’s a mix. New builds off Rt 251 and out toward Rt 444 come with builder-grade trim and unfinished basements just waiting for shelving and storage. Closer to Victor Village, older homes need casing repaired, doors rehung, stairs tightened up. Whether it’s a fresh subdivision house or a place near the village that’s been through a few owners, the carpentry work looks different depending on which Victor you’re in.

Most Victor subdivisions went up fast after 2000, so trim and doors are builder basic and the basements are bare concrete and joists, which is where a lot of built-in and shelving work starts. Village homes are a different animal, older framing, settled floors, casing that doesn’t match anymore. Once we open a wall or pull trim in either case, we find what’s actually there, sistered joists, old patch jobs, doors trimmed to fit a floor that’s not level anymore.

What’s included

  • Trim and casing for new subdivision basement finishes
  • Crown molding installed in village home living rooms
  • Interior doors hung and adjusted for settled floors
  • Stair treads, risers and railings built to code
  • Mudroom benches built for Victor entryways and garages
  • Closets and shelving fit into basement storage areas

What’s different about Victor jobs

In the new subdivisions the mistake is treating the unfinished basement like a blank box. It’s not, there are sump lines, low headroom by ductwork, and stairs that were never trimmed out. In the village, the problem is trying to match old casing profiles with modern stock trim. We check both before we cut anything, so the built-in fits the basement it’s actually going into and the trim matches what’s already on the wall.

One crew, one job at a time. We come out, look at the space, tell you straight what it’ll cost before we start cutting. We do the trim, doors, stairs or built-ins, clean up every day, and don’t leave a house full of sawdust for a week. If you want to walk through the job first and talk options, call and we’ll set it up.

Notes for Victor homeowners

From new subdivisions off Rt 96 to older village homes, we handle trim, doors, stairs and built-ins for Victor houses.

  • Victor falls under Ontario County permitting, not Monroe County, so stair and railing work that needs a permit runs through a different office than our other towns.
  • Subdivisions built since 2000 mostly have unfinished basements as standard, which means built-in and shelving work usually starts from bare concrete and open joists.
  • Village lots near Main Street tend to be tighter, so material staging and access for stairs or built-in jobs takes more planning than a subdivision lot.
  • Older homes near Victor Village may have settled floors and irregular framing, which affects how doors and stair stringers need to be cut and fit.

Victor questions

Do you handle the permit for stair or railing work in Victor?

Victor goes through Ontario County, not Monroe County like most of our other towns. We handle that paperwork as part of the job so you don’t have to track down which office to call.

Our basement is unfinished like most houses in our subdivision, can you build storage down there?

Yes, that’s a common call out here, especially off Rt 251 and Rt 444. We build shelving and closets around whatever’s already down there, sump pump, ductwork, low spots, and work the layout around it.

Our house is older, near the village, and the trim doesn’t match room to room. Can you fix that?

We can match or replace casing and crown so it’s consistent through the house. Older village homes usually need custom cuts since the original profiles aren’t standard stock anymore.
