Fairport’s got two kinds of houses needing bathroom work: the two-stories from the 1900-1940 era packed tight on village lots near Main St and the canal, with one small upstairs bath and narrow stairs, and the post-1980 colonials spread out past Turk Hill Rd toward Perinton Square. Each one calls for a different plan, and we’ve worked both sides of town long enough to know what each one needs before we open a wall.
A lot of Fairport’s village housing went up between 1900 and 1940, with plaster walls, shallow or dirt-floor basements, and just one small bathroom upstairs. Once we open those walls we usually find old galvanized supply lines, undersized vents, or subfloor that’s softened from years of a single overworked bath. The post-1980 colonials on the Perinton side are more straightforward, but they still come with builder-grade fiberglass units and vanities that don’t match how the space actually gets used now.

What Fairport homes usually mean for this job

Do I need a permit through the Town of Perinton for a bathroom remodel?
Most gut remodels and tub-to-shower conversions with plumbing or electrical changes need a permit through Perinton. We handle that process as part of the job so you’re not the one tracking it down.
My house is near the canal and the basement always feels damp. Does that affect a bathroom job?
It can, especially if the bathroom sits above a shallow or damp basement and the subfloor has picked up moisture over the years. We check for that before we start tile work so waterproofing goes over solid material, not soft wood.
